Minors Baseball (8-10 Year Olds)

Minors is a developmental division in which players continue to advance their baseball skills, as well as gain knowledge of pitching fundamentals. This is a youth pitch division. Boys and girls ages 8, 9 and 10 are eligible. Typically, teams will play two games and practice once during the week. In the spring season, the season will conclude with playoffs to determine the league champion.

As an instructional division, coaches will continue to focus on teaching the fundamentals, teamwork, discipline, good sportsmanship and positive reinforcement. Although competition is important, it is secondary to providing players with an excellent foundation and appreciation for the game.

Teams will be selected through a draft. A mandatory one-time player evaluation is required. Players are drafted to ensure team parity only. All children are assigned to a team; everyone gets an opportunity to play. During the evaluation, volunteers will assess individual competencies that they will reference during the draft selection process.

Safety is always the number one priority. Once the season starts, coaches are expected to perpetually evaluate each player’s skills and developmental opportunities. As such, players will experience positions that are consistent with their progress to avoid unnecessary risk of injury.

Playing youth baseball should arguably be one of the best times in your life and it begins with coaches and players and includes everyone from parents, board members, umpires and fans.
